New Gel Nail Polish

In campaign 13, Avon comes out with new Gel Nail Polish colors and will have a great sale to get the word out.  Campaign 13 starts on 5/19. The sale will be buy 3 gel polishes and get a free top coat.  Avon will now have a total of 23 shades.

Avon calls it 7 in 1 nail polish.  It has shine, gel-like finish, protection, strengthener, vivid color, base and top coat.  I love this polish because it has staying power.  The pic below is one of the new colors…Rain Washed.  I painted my nails 3 days ago and then took this pic.  Looks brand new, no chips at all.  This color is very subtle and I’m loving the shell finish.  I am planning on wearing on my toes for my wedding.  This will be my “something blue”.

Getting Married

I’m not sure if I shared this all with you that I got engaged on January 30th.

Our wedding is fast approaching (May 21st) and I’m getting really excited.  We are doing a beach wedding so I’m planning on going barefoot with some foot jewelry.  Right now I’m trying to figure out the perfect lipstick color and hairstyle.  These are the things that can make or break a great picture.  These pictures will be around forever and hanging on the wall so they have to be good.  Since I am getting married on the beach I’m thinking a messy updo would be perfect.  Here are a couple of pix that I’m looking at.  Which one is your favorite?

Fixing Those Brows

I have some crazy eyebrows….thanks dad….lol.  So I wanted to try something to calm these things down.  Avon has this new brow makeup called Perfect Brow Gel so I thought I would give it a try.  It comes in 2 colors…light brown and dark brown.  I chose the dark brown.  It is a gel so it goes on wet and keeps the crazy eyebrows I have at bay.  I liked the rubbery tip that applied the gel a little bit at a time.

There are color matching fibers in this gel that fill in sparce parts of your eyebrow.  I liked this because it didn’t make my eyebrows look fake or over done.

The lipstick I’m wearing is also from Avon.  It is called Ultra Color Lip Crayon in Reddy for Me. It’s lip color and lip pencil in one.

 

 

Happy National Fragrance Day

Who even knew this was a thing?  I didn’t until it showed up on my Avon website this morning.  They have a day for everything, why not fragrance?

What is your favorite fragrance? Here are my favorite Avon fragrances right now.  I absolutely love Avon’s Luck.  I’m not into flowery smells so this Avon fragrance is for me.  It has  notes of sparkling citrus and red berries blended with creamy white florals and warm sandalwood. This is a great fragrance for date night. The cost is amazing and it comes in a sophisticated bottle.  Right now the perfume is on sale for only $15.

I have 2 other Avon fragrances that I love for my every day fragrance.  (Am I the only one who does this?  I have everyday and special occasion fragrances.)  I love Far Away Gold.  It has rich Mohéli ylang, precious Indian jasmine and seductive Madagascar vanilla.  Not sure what all of that means, but that is what the website says.  I smell vanilla with a little woodsy smell.  I love almost any perfume that has vanilla in it.  I love those creamy smells. This perfume is one sale for only $9.99.  Great price for an everyday perfume.

 

The second every day perfume I love is called Ultra Sexy Pink.  Innocent yet sexy. A provocative fruity floral scent with flirty raspberry and fresh blushing peony mingled with sheer, sexy musk.  This is a fun scent in a cute bottle.   It makes me feel happy.  Right now this fragrance is on sale 2 for $40.  A little more pricey then the others but still budget friendly.

My Military Diet Results

I did it, I finished 3 days on the Military Diet.  If you don’t know what this diet is read my last post Trying the Military Diet. I thought Day 3 would be the hardest, but it was Day 2 that I really had to use my will power not to snack.  On day 3 I had little energy.  If I do this again I will definitely take a multivitamin.

So overall I liked this diet.  It was only 3 days, normal food on the diet and ice cream everyday.  I will say that if you are diabetic please talk to a doctor before trying this.  I say this because I am diabetic and I woke up in the middle of the night after completing the 3rd day with my sugar really low.  I was shakey and sweating.  I ate a jelly sandwich, which of course, was not on the diet.

Did I lose the 10 lbs that were promised? Not quite, but did lose a total of 8.5 lbs.  Not bad at all for 3 days.  I do feel great and feel like this has given me the want to eat healthier.  I am thinking about my meals for today and am being careful to not undo this quick success I already have.  I would recommend this diet to anyone who wants to jump start their weight loss or has an event that they need to lose some weight for quickly.  If you do try it I would love to hear about your results.  Good luck.

Trying the Military Diet

Have you heard of this yet?  The Military Diet has been all over facebook.  It claims that you can lose 10lbs in 3 days.  I know what you are thinking…..there is no way.  Well I figured it is only 3 days, what do I have to lose…well besides some weight.

Let me start by telling you what this diet is all about.  It states it is a great thing to do if you have something coming up that you need to lose some weight quickly, like a wedding, vacation in Cancun, or a class reunion.  It also claims that you will not just be losing water but actual fat.  If you want to lose more than 10lbs it also states you should do 3 days on this diet and 4 days off.  It does say during the 4 days off you should be eating right, just not as stringent as the Military Diet.

What I liked the most about this diet is the food is mostly stuff I already have in my house.  It wasn’t crazy food that I would never eat unless I was on a diet.  Ok, so here it is:

 

Day one’s calorie count is 1400.  I felt good on day one.  I was excited to get this started and see if it would work.  I felt comfortable.  Not hungry, not full.  I could do day one over and over.  I lost 3.5 lbs on that first day.

Day two’s calorie count is 1200.  I did great this day as well.  Unfortunetly I did this on a friday which is also supposed to be date night for my fiance and I so we didn’t get to go out to eat like we usually do.  But it is only 3 days right?!  I was snacky at night and it took alot of will power not to grab something to chomp on, but I did it.  I am now down 6.5 lbs.  I have to say that I am diabetic and during the night my sugar dropped and I did feel shakey.

I am working on day 3 right now. Today’s calorie count is only 1100.  I did add a cup of coffee this morning with some sugar.  I’m hoping the sugar in the coffee keeps me from being shakey today.  If I can’t make it, I will stick to it as closely as possible but might need to add something with sugar.  I am about to eat my lunch.  I will write about my results after I finish this third day.  The fact that I have already lost 6.5 lbs is amazing and I think that does show that this diet really does work.  I am planning on going grocery shopping today and plan on still buying healthy foods.  More friuts and veggies and I did enjoy the cottage cheese.

If you try this diet or have tried it in the past I would love to hear your results.  Of course, before starting any diet please consult your physician.

Starting Again

Hi everyone.  I’m sorry for my absence over the last couple of months.  So many things have happened….mostly good.  Earlier this year I got engaged.

 

I’m so happy and in love.  🙂  We are getting married in less then 3 months.  So many plans, so many decisions, but it is all so exciting. I have already said “yes” to a dress.  I cried when I put it on and knew right away it was the one for me.

We are getting married on the beach so my dress is very simple, chiffon, and flowing.  I can’t wait to walk down the sand isle to the love of my life.  I can’t put up pictures of my dress because it is a surprise for my fiance.

One of the decisions I have to make have to do with my hair and makeup for the big day.  I have to find the perfect shade of lipstick.  Avon just came out with 12 new matte colors.  I love the way matte looks.  I was at a meeting the other day and one of the ladies was wearing the wine shade.  It looked gorgeous on her.  I am going to have to check that shade out.  I don’t want a shade that will take over my face in pictures.

Before putting on a matte lipstick you need to prepare your lips.  Matte does not hide imperfections.  To prepare your lips you should exfoliate them with a sugar scrub or use a dry toothbrush and rub off any dead skin cells.  Once your lips are smooth the matte lipstick will look gorgeous.  Right now these new shades are only $5.99.

“Lash”ing out on Expired Mascara

A moist, dark environment that is perfect for bacteria growing out of control and new bacteria being added every single day. Sounds like a bad horror movie.  Well most of you are using a product filled with this infection causing bacteria everyday and putting it really close to your eyes….yuck.

Mascara goes bad after 3 months.  As soon as you open a mascara tube you need to set a 3 month reminder on when to change this makeup item. Our eyes are a vulnerable area for infection.  Eyes have many pores where eyelashes come out from, and tear ducts.  You are putting your eyes at risk every time you use an expired mascara.

I know throwing out a favorite mascara is hard, especially if it is still half full, but think of the alternative….pink eye, staff infection or way worse….blindness.
